Deception: #1 Killer

MishelWe’ve all heard that cancer and heart disease compete as the number one killer amongst Americans, but the truth is that it’s not. There is something even greater that not only violates a person’s physical life, but totally destroys their mind and their soul. It’s powerful; it’s subtle and it’s luring, and few people recognize it as what it is:  the number one killer is deception! Continue reading

Christianity is NOT what you Think

haloMany people today call themselves “Christians”. Mega churches around the globe attract millions of people every week with their hyped music and vain promises of wealth and prosperity. This new move has deleted the need for repentance and replaced it with an inclusive salvation message of the mind. Continue reading

Old-Fashioned and Forgotten

Dusty Bible1Majority of today’s society considers antique furniture to be old-fashioned, too detailed and subjective to a dated lifestyle. And so it has been changed in design to suit today’s pace, needs and desires. So it is with the Holy Bible; it has become old- fashioned and forgotten because it doesn’t fit into today’s lifestyle. Losing our Drive to Obey God

teacherThe Christian world is changing! There are Christians today who don’t study the Bible to know God because they just rely on the preacher to teach them everything they need to know! Then there are “others” who choose to follow one of the many so-called “Christian” doctrines because the “new” [false] gospel suits their needs so that they don’t have to obey the “Old Testament God”. Cherry Pickers Will Choke on the Pits!

cherry picker2Many “Christians” have drifted so far from God that they “cherry pick” through the scriptures and accept only the ones they like and ignore the rest. In their eyes this is okay because, after all, they still believe some of it so that keeps them in a safety zone, right? Wrong! The Bible is all or nothing! It’s either God’s written word or it’s not. Just like life itself, you’re either dead or you’re alive—there is nothing in between. And those who choose to cherry pick through the scriptures will one day choke on the pits. Continue reading

Beware of False Teaching!

We are living in a time when religion has never been so prevalent across the globe; when the influence of an attitude of Christianity is all around us, and yet often the true gospel of Jesus is hidden behind the guise of false teaching. We need to protect our heart from deception and we do this by diligently seeking the truth. We need to beware of false teaching because it will take us away from Jesus and lead down to hell.

WaquasThe true gospel of Christ, as preached by the Apostle Paul and revealed through God’s Holy Spirit to us, will keep our heart pure and disciplined before God. The Word of God is literally the words of God spoken to us and recorded in sixty-six chapters of the Bible. So, if we’re going to follow Jesus and do His will, the Bible is the only source we depend on.

There are many people in this world who believe that God exists, but few of them want to accept Him and live for Him. Even the devil acknowledges that God is real and yet he is the enemy of God. James 4:4 says, “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”

And who rules this world? The devil rules.  Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

There are many false teachings today that cater to the sinful desires and lusts of the ungodly people who want to justify their greed by hiding behind the label of Christianity. What a shock it’s going to be on judgement day for them when the Lord says “depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.” (Luke 13:27)

There is no compromising the Word of God. We’re either a Christian or we’re not. We either accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior or we serve the world. We either believe the true gospel AS IT IS WRITTEN IN THE BIBLE or we don’t. And if we don’t accept it just as it is; if we dare to change it or paraphrase it or delete it, then we are NOT Christians. We serve iniquity and we will pay the price for our sins.

We’re told in Matthew 6:24, “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one,6447825367_d360021037_m and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”

What is mammon? According to Webster’s Dictionary, mammon is “material wealth or possessions especially as having a debasing influence”.

So we’re either in love with God, serving Him with a whole heart and not changing His Word because we reverence Him as being Holy and as our Heavenly Father, or we’re seeking after our own lusts of wealth and serving ourselves.

There are false doctrines that exploit the erroneous message that God wants us to be rich; that this is the hour in time when God is going to lift up His children and bless them with an inheritance so they can live a prosperous life on this earth. This is a false teaching and we know this because the Bible tells us in 1 Peter 1:4, “To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.”

Our inheritance is in Heaven, NOT here on this earth. Jesus tells us in John 14:2, “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”

431832_669162449775825_1904920909_nThis earth is not our home. Yes, we live here and maintain a temporal home that may even hold many wonderful possessions, but our heart and our hope and our eyes are on Jesus and what He has in store for us in Heaven. We are grateful for our homes, but they should not be the focal point of our faith.

Matthew 6:19-21 says, “19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

And if preachers are not trying to get you to follow after riches and donate to their churches so you can be part of these false doctrines, then they’re preaching about  spiritual gifts and a walk that is not of God.

The Bible tells us in Hebrews 13:8 that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever.”  So God doesn’t change in any way – not the way He reveals Himself, not the way He reveals what He wants us to be and not in how He reveals His purpose and His commission to us.

The Bible was written for our edification so that we can know God and know His will for our lives. It is complete and nothing more can be added and nothing can be removed. Through the Holy Spirit every single person who reads the scriptures will get the same interpretation – and that’s because there is only ONE interpretation.

2 Peter 1:20 says, “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.”

So, when someone begins to speak out words that sound inspiring 47550929_f16edec385_tand that declare that “God has spoken to them privately” or that “He appeared to them and gave them this divine revelation”, then we need to close our ears and run from them because they are being deceived by a lying spirit. God does NOT change how He speaks to us OR what He has said in the Bible. There is NO new revelation. God said all that He’s going to say and all that we need to know in the Bible.

We can all know God and everything He has to say on every issue in life by reading the Bible. And in 2 Timothy 2:15 it says, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

Yet, there are some mysteries that we won’t understand until Jesus returns, and that even the Apostle Paul didn’t have privy to. 1 Corinthians 13:12 says, “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.”

So, when a preacher pops up and says that God has revealed to him the truth of these end-of-time mysteries, you know he’s a liar. Even Jesus told the disciples that He didn’t know the time that He’d return because only His Father knew. He will reveal these mysteries to us in His timing.

“For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.1 Corinthians 13:9-10

The onus to know Jesus is on us. We shouldn’t even think about going to someone else to learn about God. If we want to really know about someone on earth, we would become friends with that person and learn who they are through a bond that we’d develop with them. It’s the same with the Lord. We want to get close to Him and have a personal relationship with Him alone, and we won’t get that by learning about Him or talking about Him with someone else – especially someone who doesn’t know Him.

Beware of false teachings! They will lead you down the wrong path and take you away from God. There is only one way to know the truth and that is to read it from the Bible. And we can believe and trust the Bible because Jesus wrote it to every Christian who accepts His love. It’s our personal book from Him.

“And the Word [Jesus] was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” … John 1:14

Choose Your Path

road dividedWe are living in a world where there are almost as many different kinds of “Christian” churches around us as there are coffee shops. And the opinions and teachings of the Bible offer as much variety and difference in values as the cafe’s do in caffeine choices.

Years ago there were distinct denominations such as Pentecostal, Roman Catholic, Baptist and Presbyterian and the people  were very adamant about following the doctrine preached. They believed their leader and had a renowned fear of the Lord. Generations of families inherited the same love for God and for the congregation, and although the doctrines differed, the standards of each church stood strong.

But as time moved along, the people became restless with the standard of living set by the churches and they wanted the church to change, but most of them wouldn’t.  While this division caused many to leave the church permanently, others entertained the thought of starting a new one. They didn’t qualify to operate under any of the Church Heads because the doctrine and standards were not acceptable, so these religious pioneers decided to begin their own churches. They set their own standards, made their own rules and lifted themselves up as God’s anointed. The reverence and fear of the Lord became second to their own desires – and today their following continues to grow.

“Strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads unto life, and few there be that find it.” … Matthew 7:14

Some churches focus on a prosperity message and this is one that brings in a big crowd because the people want to be wealthy and they want to use God to get it. The ministers preach with enthusiasm and use scripture and contagious hype to create an energetic atmosphere.  The people are mesmerized by the testimonies of the leadership and want to dress like they do and drive expensive cars and live in luxury houses just like the leaders promise, so they give their offerings as a seed for God to bless and make them rich.

But what these people don’t realize is that the leaders are rich because of all their offerings, not because God has blessed them. We are told to tithe to the church, but that is to pay for the costs of maintaining it, not so the leaders can take it all and become wealthy. When we take care of His house first, HE takes care of us. God says in Micah 3:10 that we should, “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.”

Other churches have sided with today’s world of equal rights movement and have become more of a religious social club than the House of God. Where homosexuality used to be considered a sin according to 2 Timothy 3:1-9, it’s now looked at as an alternative lifestyle acceptable by God – and some churches are even led by gay preachers. Where the congregation once dressed for church in their best attire – men in suits and woman in dresses that were lovely, but not revealing – we now have men coming to church unshaven and dressed down in shorts and t-shirts, and women dressed as if they just came from the bar. (Romans 6:13)

Hebrews 13:8 says, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” True ministers of God would never change the truth of His Word. However, false prophets will.

In 2 Peter 2:1, we are warned about following these false teachers: “But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.”

The standards of many churches today have fallen to meet the standards of the ungodly, and while these churches all claim to preach the gospel of Christ, they all teach a totally erroneous message that is leading the people down the wrong path. We need to become aware of these false teachings and stay away from them. We need to learn how to discern the truth from the heresies.

How do we know what is truth anymore?

We begin by using the Bible as our only benchmark. We never look to any person to teach us the Bible or to help us develop our relationship with God; only the Holy Spirit can do that. As we read and study the Bible we learn God’s truth. We may have to make some changes in our own lives to bring us back to the standard that God has set for us, but it will be worth it.

631115301_0d78360698There is one teacher who will always teach us the truth, and not only that, He will always guide us and take care of us along the way as we press in toward God. The teacher is God’s Spirit who lives in us, the Holy Spirit.

When Jesus asked His disciples who they thought He was, Peter answered, “The Christ”, and Jesus told Peter how he knew this.  Matthew 16:17 says,  Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

John 14:26 says, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”

King David looked to God to teach him the truth rather than man. Psalm 25:5 says, “Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day.”

And again in Psalm 32:8, God tells us that He is our teacher: “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with my eye.”

In the New Testament Jesus is constantly referred to as teacher, as in Matthew 8:19,  “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.” And in Matthew 23:8 Jesus tells us that He is our teacher, “But you, do not be called ‘Rabbi’; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren.”

The only way to know the truth of the Bible and experience the love of God red guyand the salvation that Jesus has given us on the cross is to READ and STUDY the Bible. No one can do it for us; we need to do it ourselves. If we get careless and follow the wrong crowd and end up missing Heaven we won’t be able to blame anyone but ourselves. The old cliché, “The devil made me do it”, won’t get us any grace when we leave earth. Our time for grace is now. Our time to choose who we will follow is now.

“And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve ….. but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Joshua 24:15
