It can be easy at times to get caught up in the negative attitude of the world. When the unexpected happens that seems out of control, fear sets in and can steal the joy from us, leaving us in a state of defeat and hopelessness. But as God’s children, we should never be more fixed on the world than we are on God. His word is true. He told us to cast our cares onto Him; He said that if we pray and believe we would have what we asked for; He said that He is the God who heals us, and He told us that greater is He that’s in us than he that’s in the world. When we study the Bible, we flood our hearts and minds with God’s truth and then we are able to walk by faith and not by sight because we live in the testimony of who we are.
Who are we? We are the children of God, filled with the Light of Jesus, overflowing with the joy of the Lord, and bursting forth with His hope. When we keep oil in our lamps, the light in us it breaks through the density of darkness around us. So, let’s study the Scriptures, and let’s spend time in prayer and worship so that our hearts and minds are built up in the Lord. Then we will shine brightly and be the light in the darkness for others to see so they, too, can share the joy, peace, and hope in Christ that we have.
