Confusing the Roles

All Scripture is given to us by God (2 Timothy 3:16), and His Spirit teaches the same interpretation to all believers (John 14:26). Yet, some modern-day Christians interpret Scripture their way, confusing the roles and exalting themselves above God. For example, 1 Peter 5:6-7 says to humble ourselves before God, who loves and cares for us, and hears and answers our prayers. Yet, Hebrews 4:16 says we’re to come boldly before Him. Some interpret this as a right to speak to God as if He were their servant, demanding things from Him to suit their own will! But what it really means is that as His children, we can come directly into His presence to obtain mercy and grace in a time of need, a privilege we never had before we knew Jesus as our Savior.
