The words we speak matter! Jesus said in Matthew 15:11 that it’s not what we eat that defiles our hearts, but what comes out of our mouths. If we curse, condemn, or speak evil of others, we reveal what’s in our hearts and thoughts. James 1:26 says that as Christians, we’re to bridle our tongues. Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 11:3 that evil thoughts take us away from Christ, and in Ephesians 4:29, he says not to let corrupt words come out of our mouths. Our words should not condemn or judge, but uplift, encourage, and offer hope in Christ to the lost. Jesus will avenge those who hurt us in due time, but as His disciples, He wants us to show His love and grace to those around us and let our words bring peace and hope to those who hear them.
