A few days before Jesus went to the cross, He traveled to Bethany and raised Lazarus from the dead. He didn’t give Lazarus eternal life at that time as Jesus hadn’t yet died for our sins or been raised to eternal life. Jesus did this to show us that there’s a time coming when He will call every believer by name, “Come forth!” And those who have died will rise from the dead, and we who are still alive will rise to meet them in the clouds, and we’ll all be with Jesus forever! What a hope we have, that Jesus will soon call us Home!
