A humble person is able to accept the reality of a situation and address it regardless of how embarrassing or humiliating it may be. A person filled with pride will avoid it or ignore it, and act as if it were not their concern. Pride often prevents us from keeping peace or considering the feelings of others.
A humble person will admit to their weakness or their mistake and apologize for it, and even try to make things right. An apology brings forgiveness which in turn brings peace. But when a person’s pride won’t accept humility, they try to forget it and bury it and won’t admit to doing something wrong.
Proverbs 13:10 says that pride brings contention. It creates a division between people who otherwise might have been great friends and a help to each other in life.
A humble spirit is a good thing and it keeps us realizing that we can and do make mistakes, but it also teaches us to grow in wisdom and experience. Life is good and a little bit of humility can go a long way.
Don’t let pride prevent you from experiencing the most out of life – sometimes we have to forgive others for their wrongdoings – and sometimes we have to apologize for ours!
Hi Ronnie. So I guess the answer is no, it’s not a bad thing. It’s a great thing!
