What is the better holiday greeting, “Merry Christmas” or “Happy Holidays?” Some Christians get upset over the latter, not realizing that the world was celebrating its gods in December long before Jesus was born. Years ago, when the Roman Emperor Constantine ruled, he secretly acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah and told the Christians to celebrate Jesus at the time of the Winter Solstice so they wouldn’t be noticed and killed. As Christians, we’ve adopted many of the world’s celebrations with gifts, yule logs, decorated trees, and feasts. But when it comes to the greeting, we believe that Christmas begins with Christ, and so we say, “Merry Christmas!”
