Many agree that Jesus died on the cross for their sins and rose to Heaven. They have the knowledge but are NOT Christians. John 3:16 says Jesus died for everyone, but we must believe IN Him—not about Him. We become Christians when we realize that WE are sinners and need a Savior—Jesus—and ask Him to forgive our sins. We commit our hearts to Him, and He fills us with His Spirit and teaches us as we study the Bible to know Him. God is good and watches over those who love Him.
