The Oxford Dictionary defines “lord” as someone or something having power, authority, or influence; a master or ruler. Ephesians 6:12 says that in this world, we wrestle against powers of darkness (the devil) who became lord over us when he convinced Adam and Eve to sin against God. John 16:33 tells us that Jesus, the Son of God, overcame the devil when He died on the cross and was raised back to life. Colossians 1:13 confirms that Jesus delivered us out of the devil’s hands and back to God. So, when we accept Jesus as our Savior, He also becomes our LORD, and as Exodus 14:14 says, He fights our battles for us.
