‘Twas the Night Before Christmas
…..ronnie dauber’s version
‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Every creature was praising, even the mouse.
The Bibles were open to the pages with care
And showed us so clearly that Jesus was near.
The children were singing and clapping their hands
With visions of a baby being born in the land.
Mamma with her bonnet and me with my cap
Were in the mood for praising; not a long winter’s nap.
Then out on the lawn, there arose such a ringing
And there on our sidewalk were carolers singing.
We opened the door, and there we bestowed
The big white flakes of the Christmas snow.
The moon shone down on the singers around
As they sang in unison their glorious sound.
When, what to my praising heart should I feel?
But the presence of Jesus that was so very real.
With His gentle touch and in one accord
We all knew then it must be the Lord.
In the glory of Heaven, His presence came
With the angels about Him who praised His name!
“Wonderful, Counsellor and Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Savior, and Lord!
Prince of Peace, Healer, and Son of God,
Creator, Advisor, and King of the world!”
The gentle breeze made the caroler’s scarves dance
And their voices grew louder as we were caught in their trance.
We joined with their singing and praising aloud.
What an inspiring few minutes we spent with this crowd!
But soon they moved on to bless the next home
And we went inside where we would carry on
With our praises to God for His gift we would sing;
The gift of Jesus who was born to be King!
He left His throne above to be born in a manger
And gave up His glory for a life of danger.
But that’s why He came, to teach us as kin
That He loved us so much, He would die for our sin.
And He died on that cross! But He rose again, whole!
His side was still pierced, His hands bore the holes!
But He was alive, and He gave us His promise;
He’s coming again and this time to get us!
But His eyes will be like fire; His feet as fine brass;
His hair white as snow and his voice like the past
When He spoke to the prophets in words so clear,
Like rolling waters for His children to hear!
We won’t see Him as a baby born on Christmas Day,
Or as the Savior who gave His life to save.
We’ll see Him in His glory as God over all,
And in the clouds above us, we’ll hear Him call.
We’ll speak not a word, but our hearts will sing
Because we’ll know the voice of Jesus, our King.
And with His arms wide open and a twinkle in His eye,
He’ll welcome us home and forever we’ll abide!
So we’ll sing and praise God forevermore
Because Jesus is King and our precious Savior!
We give Him the praise, and we sing with delight,
“Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!”
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.—Luke 2:11
