God is Still in Control

2544952310_6458b28874_mThe world today is in great turmoil and there’s a path of doom spreading across every nation as the media persistently blasts news of global adversity. It’s plagued with economic failure, political deception, global warming, devastating wars, horrendous crimes, deadly diseases and recurrences of destructive natural disasters. People everywhere are asking if God is still in control.

These sorrows are intensifying, and people who don’t know God think that He doesn’t care or that He can’t do anything to stop them. They get caught up with the grief that ripples across the globe and miss the reality – God IS still in control.

People are living in the last days of this great Christian age and 2 Timothy 3:1 warns that perilous times will come. The sins of this world have corrupted not only the heart of mankind, but of all the elements of this earth and it has driven this world into a state of chaos and destruction. Yet, through it all God has provided a way out so they can be saved from this relentless devastation.

When Jesus died on the cross, He took upon Himself the sins of ALL mankind so that whoever would accept His sacrifice would be redeemed back to God and would no longer carry the sin of this errant world. He died for everyone as John 3:16 says, but only a few will truly believe it and make Jesus their Lord.

Jesus says repeatedly in the New Testament that sin in this world will become increasingly worse as the time of His return draws closer, but He also says to trust Him. In John 16:33 He says, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

He reminds Christians in Matthew 21:22 that if they will pray and believe Him for the answer that they’ll receive whatever they ask Him for. God takes care of His children who ask for His help, so if you pray He will answer you and He will protect you.

Numbers 23:19 says, “God is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”

Many Christians know that they can come to God in prayer about personal needs, 162134757_4f6edd2950_tbut are hesitant of His sovereign ability to intervene in global traumas. They can’t understand why He doesn’t stop devastating storms that leave thousands of people dead and millions more homeless, or why He doesn’t provide a cure for the horrendous disease of cancer that is killing thousands of people every day.

God has the answers for the whole world, but they only come to those who repent and conform to the lifestyle of Jesus. Most people don’t want to change; they just want the cure.

Christians need to obey 2 Timothy 2:15 and study the Bible now while they can so that they can know God and learn about what’s going on in the world and why. In 2 Thessalonians 3:3 the Lord says that He is faithful and will establish you and guard you from the evil one. So even though disasters will happen all around you, if you keep your eyes and your heart on Him, He will bring you through them all.

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” … Psalm 18:2

People of this world don’t know God so they curse Him because their human emotions react to sorrows such as the starving children, and they think the world is out of control or that there is no God. They haven’t read the Bible to know that sin has corrupted everything on this earth and that we are headed for the battle of Armageddon, the final encounter between the devil and Jesus when God will overthrow sin.

So, perhaps people should seek God while He can found and pray for those who can’t pray for themselves. This world is dying and it will soon end, but it’s all part of the big picture …..

….. and God is still in control.

“And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” … Matthew 24:3
