After His glorious entrance on the donkey, Jesus went into the Temple and was angered that it was being used as a flea market. He flipped the tables, chased the animals out, and rebuked the merchants, “You’ve turned my Father’s House into a den of thieves!” The next day, Jesus entered the Temple again, where the Pharisees were waiting for Him, demanding to know by what authority He had done these things. Jesus calmly recited two parables, ending with, “Therefore, I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it.” They knew Jesus was speaking about them, and determined right then that they had to kill Him before He impressed others with His authority and put them out of business.
