It was prophesied in the Old Testament that Jesus would ride on a donkey into Jerusalem. Many followed Him, crying “Hosanna” and waving palm branches to symbolize royalty, but Jesus knew their hearts, and He wept because they didn’t really know who He was. They assumed He was already their king who’d sit on the throne and take back their land, freeing them from the Romans. And when He died on the cross, their hopes were crushed, and most of them fled and never returned. But today, we know Jesus is our King! We cry “Hosanna” with a heart of gratitude and joy because we know He had to go to the cross to defeat sin and death, and that He rose again and gave us eternal life with Him. Jesus IS our King. Praise His name forever!
