At the time of Christ’s birth, wise men, who studied the Scriptures and knew He would be born then, followed the star that led them to Jesus. They knew Jesus was the promised Messiah, and brought Him gifts that showed their respect and honor for Him. They brought gold to signify His Kingship, frankincense to acknowledge His Priesthood, and myrrh to signify His death for mankind. As followers of Jesus, we also respect Jesus as our King, High Priest, and Savior, and like the wise men, we give Him praise and thanks every day for keeping His promise and coming to save us.
