Names give us identity, but can also signify our character, and the name of our Lord is above all names. We call Him Jesus, the English translation of the Hebrew name, Yeshua, which means “God saves.” When the angel came to Mary, He told her she’d have a son and to call Him Jesus because He is the Savior the world had been waiting for, the Son of God who would become a man, die on the cross, and save us from our sins. The name of Jesus has power! The spirit world knows it, and while the devil trembles at the mention of Jesus’s name, God’s angels rejoice! And when we praise the name of Jesus, God is glorified!
