Walking through the dark valleys in our lives can make us feel alone and afraid. But as Christians, we have Jesus, our Shepherd, who watches over and protects us, and never leaves us. Like earthly shepherds, He uses a rod, which is a short, heavy club, to defend us, His sheep, from predators, as well as a long staff with a hoop on one end to guide and rescue us, and keep us on the right path. The rod and staff are God’s Word, so we must study the Bible and let His Word take root in our hearts and minds. Jesus will bring us through the valleys when we know His Truth, rest in Him, and trust Him!
