When Jesus told us to ask Him for anything, it wasn’t just about material things. We are God’s children living in a corrupt and evil world, and we need His help to overcome a conniving devil who wants to destroy us. Jesus defeated Satan on the cross and rose from the grave to give us eternal life with Him in Heaven, but He also wants to empower us NOW with what we need to live productive lives. When we study the Bible, we covet HIS wisdom, knowledge, and strength, and when we submit to Him and allow His Spirit to live through us, we can be who He’s called us to be.
