When children are lost, they search diligently for their parents. They’ll go to others for help and perhaps even fall and get hurt along the way; their tears are real, and their hearts are desperate. But when they hear the voice of their father, they know they’re safe and rejoice as He gathers them into His warm arms. This is how it is with all of us in this dark world. We’re lost, secretly searching for a god we don’t know. Then, one day, a Christian tells us about Jesus and speaks the Word to us—the voice of our Father. As we reach up to receive Him, He opens His arms and gathers us to Himself, and we rejoice because we have found the One who loves us.
