The disciples of Jesus mourned His death. His teachings had offended many, causing a political stir amongst the people, so to be executed for treason wasn’t unusual. But this was Jesus! They’d been enriched by His teachings and had witnessed incredible miracles; they believed He was their Messiah and King and would live forever. Yet, He’d been taken so quickly and nailed to the cross—and now He was dead. The disciples’ hearts were heavy as they walked by sight and not by faith; they accepted what they saw and not what Jesus had told them. It wasn’t until Jesus appeared to them after He’d risen that they realized He WAS the Messiah and that everything He’d told them was true.

Today, we have the Scriptures, God’s own words, to tell us about Jesus and the salvation He gave to us through His death and resurrection. As Christians, we must walk by faith and NOT by sight! We must study the Scriptures to know the Truth because God gives us the faith we need to believe and see. Jesus IS our Messiah, our Lord, Savior, and coming King! He is alive and lives forevermore!
