Today, Christians celebrate Psalm Sunday, when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. It was customary for kings to ride donkeys when entering a city in peace, and hundreds of anxious followers believed He was their prophesied King and went before Him singing. They anticipated that He’d be crowned that day, but when He was crucified instead, many fell away in disbelief. Today, we celebrate because we know that Jesus had to die for our sins BUT that He rose from the dead and is alive evermore. And one day, very soon, Jesus will return to reign as King over the whole earth!
