To the world, the name of Jesus is a myth, a swear word, even a curse. But to us who know He’s God’s Son who left His throne in Heaven to come and die for our sins, Jesus is our Savior! His Name is above ALL Names! He redeemed us to God and spared us from His wrath that’s coming soon upon this earth. He made us righteous and gave us eternal life with Him! And when the world strikes out at us for loving the One its god hates, we call out the Name of Jesus, and He rescues us, speaks to us through His Word, and comforts us with His peace.

Until I was pregnant with my daughter I had not thought much about the meaning and power of a name. Scripture tells us the importance of a name, so I chose the name Jessica Rei for her, Jessica from Jesse meaning ‘Gift from God’, and Rei means my gratitude an my prosperity. She is my gift from God whom I am grateful for and will prosper. She is now an adult and mother and I am so proud of who she grew up to be. Thank you for the reminder of the power of a name, and the most powerful name is Jesus!

That’s a wonderful testimony! I too, named my children carefully. For some, God impressed upon me the names for them; others I prayed for and named them after heroes in the Bible whose lives relate closely to my children. Thanks for sharing! God bless you.
