When the angel told the shepherds that their Savior had been born, they rejoiced and then went to the barn and saw Jesus lying in the manger. They worshiped the baby because they knew that He was God’s Son, their Messiah, who would save them from their sins and rule over them as King. And when they left the barn that day, they didn’t just return to the fields the next day and get back to business as usual. No, they rejoiced and praised God all the more because God had fulfilled His promise and given the “way” for believers to come to Him and find their way Home. And like the shepherds, we’ll continue to celebrate today and rejoice in our salvation.
