There are Two Ways to God!

Two ways

There have always been two kinds of people: those who worship the true God of Heaven, and those who worship everything else. There have always been cults and religions that blatantly serve false gods, and people who love and obey God. But today much of “Christianity” has changed to make it easier for people to get to God without going through Jesus—and the fact is, the Bible does say that there are TWO ways to get to God.

Way #1

Messge of the cross

Hebrews 9:27  tells us that each one of us will die one day, and then we will each face judgment for our sins. We read in 2 Corinthians 5:10 that we will each stand before Christ one day and be judged for the things we did on this earth, both good and bad. But Apostle Paul warns us in Hebrews 10:31 that it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God to be judged. Judgment is nothing to take lightly; it’s dangerous because you’re facing the Almighty God and receiving His sentence for your sin, which is eternal punishment.

Every person ever born is destined to stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ because every person ever born is corrupt with sin, and the destination for sin is death—Romans 6:23.  Sin must be judged, and if sin is found in you, then you will be judged and sentenced because of that sin. There is no escape from this Seat through your own merits because none of us can purify ourselves and get rid of the sin so that we can stand blameless before God.

Way #2

In God is my salvation

But God, in His infinite love for us, made a way! He sent Jesus to earth to die for our sins and remove them from us. When we receive Jesus as our Savior, the sins that were once in us are removed and we are cleansed, forgiven and restored back to God. His Spirit comes to live in us and we no longer belong to this world, but to God. We are citizens of His Kingdom.

Yet, when we die, we will still face God, only this time it won’t be for judgment, but for rewards. Our sins will have been forgiven so we have no fear of being sent to hell. Instead, our names will be written into the Lamb’s Book of Life, and as we stand before Him, we will be rewarded for the things that we did on this earth in His name such as loving and helping people, sharing the gospel and winning souls for His Kingdom. The things we did in vain will fall away but everything that we said, thought or did according to His will and to His glory will remain and He will reward us for them with crowns!

As encouraging as this is for believers, it will also make us feel unworthy because our eyes will be opened and we’ll see how we fell short of being all Jesus has made us to be. We’ll stand before God and all His angels, and our lives will be spread open like a book. Many of us will be humiliated because of the things we did that were really done to please ourselves and to look good before others. Some of us will be embarrassed for still holding onto bad habits and ways that we enjoyed in secret. Still, others will be ashamed because they accepted His salvation but didn’t care enough to show His love and forgiveness with others that He’d so freely given to them.  Yet, all who stand before the Throne will be spared of judgment because our sins will have already been judged when Jesus took them and suffered the punishment for us.—Isaiah 53:4-8

So, when we leave this earth, we will all stand before God and either face Him in fear as our Judge or in humility as our King. These are the only two options available! If we didn’t accept Jesus as our Savior when we were on this earth, then it will be too late once we stand before Him with our eyes opened to the truth. Now is the time to accept salvation. Now, while we are still alive on this earth is the time of grace given to us to receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Today, Jesus is our Savior, but when He returns He will come as Judge and King!

  • Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.—2 Corinthians 6:2

We must do all we can do now to share the gospel of Christ with as many people as we can, and we must stop worrying about what people think of our stand for Jesus. We must worry about how they will stand before Him if they are not saved! Their eternity will be horrific! Time is running out and Jesus is getting ready to call His saints Home. Forget stocking up and planning for a prosperous or financial future on this earth. Our days here are almost over. Let’s plan for eternity with Christ and let’s plan to bring as many loved ones with us as possible. This is our commission! This is our goal!

Yes, there are two ways to get to God: to make Him our Judge or our Reward. Choose wisely!
