What is Your Hope?

kitten-lion-mirror1Without hope, we’d have no motivation to do anything. No purpose. No intention. No expectant results. Life within us would become a mere act of survival with no cares or implications for the next moment. We need hope. It’s powerful and it’s literally the driving force behind our actions, and it comes in many sizes and shapes. What is your hope?

People strive for education with the “hope” of achieving their desired career. They work hard and save money to buy something that they have their “hopes” on. Couples get married and “hope” to have children to fill their home. Everything that we do in life is based on a hope for something: a desire that we want to be fulfilled. A promise.

However, we live in a sinful world that has even believers caught up in its deceptions, and in hopes that can never be fulfilled. Many lives have been destroyed because people blindly put their hope in someone or something that has or will fail them. These hopes are inspired by the ruler of this world who controls not only that hope, but your ability to fulfill it. There is only one person in whom our hope should be, and that is Jesus.

We must break away from this world and put our trust—our hope—in Jesus alone! We must learn to stop being convinced that anyone or anything in this world is going to help us. We do not belong to this world! We have been redeemed back to God our Father through the salvation given to us by the shed blood of Jesus, the Son of God, our Lord and Savior!

  • Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.—Acts 2:36

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines “Lord” as one having power and authority over others:

a : a ruler by hereditary right or preeminence to whom service and obedience are due

b : one of whom a fee or estate is held in feudal tenure

c : an owner of land or other real property

God is our Creator. He owns everything! Sin has corrupted God’s creation, but God is still the Master over it all! God gave Himself as a sacrifice to defeat sin and death and to allow salvation to those who will believe, to those who put their trust in Him. Jesus truly is our Lord!

  • I am the Lord, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.—Isaiah 43:15

When we become a Christian, a believer in Christ Jesus, we become part of God’s family. We no longer belong to this world. God’s Holy Spirit fills our heart and literally unites us with God, just as Adam and Eve had been part of God before the fall. And as we pray and worship God and study His Holy Scriptures, we begin to know God, and His love floods our soul. Our eyes are opened and we realize that there is one God, the God of Israel, and He is the One to whom our allegiance lies. We know that God is the only hope we have in every situation.

God hears our prayers so let’s go to God and talk with Him.—1 Peter 3:12

Jesus tells us to go to God in prayer and ask for things.—Matthew 21:22

God promises to supply all of our needs.—Philippians 4:19

God says that as we grow in Him, He grants us the desires of our heart.—Psalm 37:4

God says that when we pray fervently, He will heal us!—James 5:16

God sent Jesus to save us because He loves us, and wants us to be with Him.—John 3:16

God is Holy but the world is filled with sin. We live in this world but we are not part of it anymore. We are citizens of Heaven, waiting for Jesus to return and take us home. And that day is fast approaching and closer than most people realize. What a glorious day that will be!

As believers, we can’t put our hope and our trust in the world. God will use the world to bless us, but we don’t depend on the world for anything. We go to God in prayer and trust Him to meet our needs, to heal us, to restore and help others, to work through us to bring His salvation to others. We depend on Jesus alone, not on the world.

Our hope and our trust are in the God of Israel, the One who came to earth to save us. As believers, we need to separate ourselves from this world as much as possible. God is our Lord, and His Spirit in us teaches us and leads us. God often uses the things and the people of this world for His own purpose, but we need to keep our eyes on Him and let God direct us and move things around at His will.

Jesus is about to return to take all of His children out of this world so that His wrath can be poured out upon it. Time is almost out. We need to do all we can to get the salvation message of Christ out to our family and friends and colleagues. God will direct us, give us wisdom and the ability to do the job when our hope is in Jesus! He will return soon!

Let’s not waste any time by putting our hope in a lost world, and seeking after its goals and desires. Let’s put our hope and trust in Christ and work while there is still day. We’ll have lots of time to celebrate afterwards!I come quickly*If this message has blessed you, please share it with others so we can work together to get the salvation message out there. And please subscribe to this post if you haven’t already so that every message will come directly to your inbox.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a really blessed day. … ronnie
