Most of us have grown up being told that the world is going to end soon. However, we are still here and so, we accept that doomsday prediction as something our parents told us because they couldn’t adjust to this new age. The truth is that the world will continue to go on for many years yet, but this system of things is about to come to a terrorizing halt! And when it does, will you cry or rejoice?
Those of us who are over 60 can look back and see that everything in this world has undergone a drastic change since we were a child. Even the last ten years have brought about more change than we could have imagined—a change that defies God and glorifies sin. It seems that everything Jesus warned us would happen in the last days before His return is unfolding right before our very eyes! Timothy also warned us of these times, and clearly, we are living in the perilous times that he predicted!
- Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”—Matthew 24:3-44
When we read the books of Daniel and Revelations, we can see that Israel, which is God’s bookmark for this countdown, is living out the prophesies just as predicted, and to the very detail. If we study these books prayerfully, we’ll understand more clearly just how close to the end we really are, and that Jesus truly could call us home any time!
Everything that God cherishes is being corrupted by sin. God said that homosexuality is a sin, yet man has made it legal, and the only crime is to speak against it. God made two genders, male and female, yet now it’s legal to mutilate the body and become whatever you want. God said not to put harmful things into the body, but now marijuana has been made a legal recreational substance in many places. God said in Exodus not to murder, yet thousands of babies are being legally murdered every day in a process disguised as abortion.
People have turned away from God and no longer want Him in their lives, not in schools or workplaces, not in any public areas and not even in some churches! Bibles are becoming illegal and yet, false religions are accepted, so much so that we have a massive statue in New York City of Baal. There is no more freedom of speech as we can’t speak against any other religion or against any transgender or gay movement without being labeled as a “hater” and legally punished. Just as Isaiah prophesied, the things that were good will be called evil, and the evil will be called good.
- Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!—Isaiah 5:20
Climatic disasters are leaving millions homeless and many dead as each attack is a bit worse than the previous one. Health issues are growing worse daily as a result of unhealthy eating and pharmaceutical medications that are destroying the body.
Civil unrest in every country is spreading like fire. The peace has been taken away from this earth and the only hope any of us has to escape the tribulation that is almost upon us is in Jesus Christ.
- And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.—Revelation 6:4
Jesus is going to return for His followers just as He promised. He is going to call us to meet Him in the clouds and we will escape the judgment that is about to come upon this sinful world. We won’t see the anti-Christ or the horror of the tribulation because we will be in Heaven with Jesus. Then, when Jesus is ready, we who were raptured will return with Him, and there will be a mighty war as He speaks His judgment upon this world’s government. He will set up His Kingdom in Jerusalem and rule as King of this world for a thousand years, and we will rule with Him.
The idea of the tribulation brings fear to many people who don’t know the Scriptures. It says in 1 Thessalonians 5:2 that He will come like a thief in the night, but only to those who aren’t ready. They won’t hear His voice when Jesus calls, and they will miss the rapture just as the five virgins did in Matthew 25:1-12. Those who are looking for Jesus will hear His voice and go to Him, and won’t be afraid of the horrors that lie ahead for this world.
When we follow Jesus and live for Him, we don’t have to worry about being tormented by the anti-Christ or being forced to receive the mark of the beast. These things will happen after we are gone. However, while we are here, we can expect persecution of some kind because neither the devil nor the sinful people of this world want to hear about Jesus.
- Blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.—Matthew 5:11-12
The time is almost at hand. Things will inevitably get worse before Jesus calls, but we will continue to share the Gospel of Jesus and show the love of God to people until that second. Jesus is our hope, and when we are always waiting to receive Him, we will hear His voice when He calls and we will rejoice!
- Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”—Luke 21:28
Are you ready to meet Jesus when He calls? If you aren’t ready or if you don’t even know Jesus, then now is the best time you have to make Jesus your Lord and Savior. Go to Him in prayer, repent of your sins and ask Jesus to become Lord of your life and to fill you with His Spirit. Then study the Bible as if there is no tomorrow because He is coming soon and He will only call us once! Will you rejoice because you hear Jesus call you? Or will you cry when you discover that you missed Him? The choice is yours: choose wisely!
- In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.—John 14:2-3
