Our Soul Cries Out

crying outThis world is dark because sin has separated people from God. Many prefer the life of sin, don’t want to know God, and are even offended by the name of Jesus. Some cling to anti-Christ religions; others choose to follow false doctrines; many more prefer to make science their god, while multitudes claim to be atheists so they can be their own god. Everyone is searching for someone or something greater than themselves, even if they won’t admit it. The truth is, God created each one of us, and our souls cry out to be with Him.

Those who follow false doctrines and teachers believe that God doesn’t require repentance, that He approves of their lifestyle, and accepts them just as they are. They actually believe that they will go to Heaven when they die and so they close their hearts to the truth. But their souls still cry out for God! So many people will be shocked when they stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ and realize too late that they should have listened to their own cries and received Jesus as their Savior while they were on earth.

  • There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out.—Luke 13:28

Before we became a Christian—a believer in Christ—we were filled with sin; we were all doomed. Some of us attended a church for years, and were faithful with our tithes and offerings; we may have even been a very nice person. Then came that day when we realized that we were a sinner, and that’s when we repented and asked Jesus to come and live in our heart. That’s when we realized that works doesn’t get any of us into Heaven, and that our salvation comes only through Jesus.

  • For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.—Ephesians 2:8-9

Our souls have cried out for God since we were born. When we finally realized that God was real and that He’s our Heavenly Father and Creator of our soul, we repented of our sins, received Jesus as Savior and were filled with His Spirit. We were finally happy and blessed with His peace; yet, our soul continues to cry out to God. Why? Because now we realize the truth and we don’t want to be in this world any longer; we want to go Home. But we are still here and Jesus wants us to be His light in this world.

you are the light

There is a day coming when Jesus will come down to the clouds and call us all to be with Him. We refer to this as the rapture but we don’t know when that will be so we can’t just sit idle and wait for it—not if we love God. We need to continue to study the Bible, spend time in prayer with God and praise Him endlessly. We need to share His truth with others so they, too, can be saved. We can’t treat the Christian life as one big vacation; we have work to do and not much time to do it in. We are God’s light in this dark world.

  • And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.—Luke 19:13

Salvation is very personal, and the closer we get to Jesus, the more our soul cries. We want to be with Him, but we want to do our part to honor Him and bring glory to His name while we are still on earth. Apostle Paul went through this, as well. He wanted badly to go Home, but he also wanted others to know Jesus, so he preached every day until Jesus called him home. We want to be like Paul and tell others that they don’t have to wander around in this wilderness searching for an answer. We can tell them about Jesus and lead them to salvation.

  • For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.—John 3:16

Let’s be who God has called us to be, a messenger with the good news of salvation through Christ Jesus.  If we don’t share the truth, then these crying souls just may be denied the only hope this world has, and they will spend eternity crying for what they missed and for what they will never get.

So, let’s take advantage of every opportunity and share the gospel with people so that they, too, can be saved. Their souls cry out now to be with God, and we can be the ones who lead them to Him.  Then they will be on the path that leads to God, and when they get to Heaven, the angels will rejoice that another child has come Home. How pleased God will be because we heard these lost souls cry out to Him, and we led them to Jesus!

  • I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.—John 10:9

only door to Heaven
