The Agenda of Fake News

deceptionYou can’t go anywhere today without being surrounded by fake news. Social media and even some of the supposedly authentic news programs are infiltrated with lies. Facts are being so distorted that people are becoming filled with either rage or panic. What is going on in our world? Is there an agenda behind this in flood of fake news?

Lies have been around since the fall of mankind when Eve believed the devil’s lie and convinced Adam to disobey God and eat the forbidden fruit.  Lies have one purpose, and that is to steal the truth from us so that we will not know God and follow Him. They are initiated, inspired, encouraged and candy-coated by the father of lies, the devil.

  • The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.—John 10:10

We are bombarded with a massive cloud of lies that is so great, it’s almost overwhelming. Many of these lies are blatant untruths; others are deceptions. Together they are growing like a snowball rolling down a hill. At times, these lies are so capitulating that it’s almost impossible to realize that what we’re hearing is not the truth. Between politics and religion, the truth is being quenched.

  • For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.—Mark 13:22

Why is that? Why are lies becoming so powerful and so global that it’s hard to tell them from the truth? The answer is simple: Jesus is about to return!

When Jesus comes back, He will take His rightful place on King David’s throne, and He will rule the world from Jerusalem. The enemy does not want that to happen. He wants to continue to rule this world with sin and corruption, and he will do everything he can to hide the truth from us. He does not want people to know that Jesus is the Son of God who is the only and righteous heir to this throne. And the devil knows that his time is running out, and he wants as many people as possible to reject God now.

"Skip the ghost stories. Tell us your conspiracy theory again!"These lies are a decoy to keep us from the truth. The news of political unrest within our own countries as well as globally is upsetting and overpowering. Many issues are going on at the same time, and each one affects us as a nation and as individuals. Majority of people have no idea what is really happening or why, but at the same time, they all have an opinion, and they all want to spread it around. As a result, we have news being broadcast from every possible type of media that incorporates bits of the facts buried within mounds of destructive opinions. The truth is hidden, and all we hear is what the devil wants us to hear.

Many people have itching ears. They don’t know God, don’t know His truth, and don’t know the facts about what’s going on, and so they fall into the wiles of the devil and create havoc. As a result, we have fake news that is spreading like fire and stirring the people so that they become totally caught up in the lies and then begin to react to them. We read in Luke 21:26 that “men’s hearts will fail them out of fear for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.” So much war, unrest, disease, climatic disasters, poverty, and social and family rebellion that it’s becoming stressful to deal with. But the fake news about them is greater at times than the actual crisis because it leads to the hype that brings on the unknown fear!

Lies and deception cater to an audience of fools. They don’t want to hear about Jesus, or about His return, or about His victory over the evils of this world. They only want to listen to the problems.  Fake news is becoming so disguised as a reality that it’s being accepted as fact. The decoy is working, and it’s becoming so great throughout the world that it’s taking everyone’s attention—everyone except those who know Jesus and who know that Jesus warned us of these times and told us how to get through them.

  • These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.—John 16:33

As believers, we must continue to try and reach as many people as possible with the truth, especially because of the rising agenda of lies. Jesus is still with us, and His Spirit still lives in us. We don’t belong to this world, but to God’s Kingdom. It seems at times to be more of a challenge to reach the unsaved, but we can do it when we follow Jesus. God will lead us and speak through us, and all we have to do is love Him enough to want to do it.

  • What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?—Romans 8:31

There is an agenda to the fake news, and it’s to create such a cloud of doubt and chaos around us that people will become part of it and not see Jesus. The cloud is getting thicker and darker, but the light of Jesus is getting brighter and those who want to see Him, WILL see Him. As believers, we need to stand out, speak up and be a witness of God’s love, forgiving grace and mercy. The agenda for lies is to keep people from knowing the truth; our agenda as God’s children is to be the light that shines in the darkness and leads people to that hidden truth.
