Like a well-stocked department store that offers a diversity of products to please its different customers, this world offers a wide selection of so-called Christianity that caters to individual needs and desires. And variety is good when pleasing our personal tastes, but there is only ONE Christianity that revives the soul. And the only choice we have is to accept it or reject it, and to accept it puts us on the road that leads to Jerusalem.
Jesus is our Savior, our Redeemer, our Deliverer and the doorway that leads to God. There is no other way to get to God. Unlike the department store that has a market for copycat products, a knock-off religion will not and cannot save our soul or lead us to God. There is only one doorway that leads to the path of life, and that is through the cross.
- I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.—John 10:9
When we become Christians, our goals, and our purpose change. We no longer live for what life can give to us, but for what we can give to those around us so that they, too, can find Jesus and live. We become citizens of God’s Kingdom, and God becomes the One we worship and honor and praise. When we get saved, we realize just how big God is and how inferior we are—yet, we are everything to Him.
He loves every person He ever created, but sadly, most have drifted from Him and have chosen to serve the god of this world that flaunts all the things that make them feel good. God’s laws have been changed to compromise the devil’s desire to rule, and many people have taken their eyes off of God and are now blinded by their own lusts and desires.
When Adam and Eve sinned against God, His Spirit left them and they were filled with sin. And sadly, sin has one destination and that is to stand at the Judgment Seat of Christ to be judged and then sentenced to eternal damnation. But God promised them and reassured it to Abraham and to all the Jews that He would send a redeemer to redeem them back to Himself.
And God was faithful. He sent Jesus to us, and Jesus was faithful and took our sins to the cross so that He could take on the judgment of our sins and pay the punishment on our behalf. And all we have to do is believe it and receive Jesus into our hearts as our Lord and Savior. And so now, every person, whether they are Jew or Gentile, if they accept the salvation that Jesus gave on the cross, will be saved from their sins, and they will also be on the road that leads to Jerusalem.
Why Jerusalem?
Jesus is getting ready to return to earth, only this time not as the Lamb to die for us, but as our King to rule over us. He is going to sit on the throne in Jerusalem in the place where King David reigned, and He is going to rule over the whole world from there.
Jerusalem is the Holy City of God, and it is the place where Jesus is going to return. And He’ll come back when the heart of every believer is focused on this city and is looking for their King to come and reign.
Jesus is and was the promised Messiah that the Jews waited for, but rejected when He came the first time. And so His gospel was preached to the Gentiles, and they have spent the last many years trying to share this truth with every Jew, and with every nationality so they can be ready when He comes again.
Jesus is coming soon! Those of us who are saved will live forever with Him, and those of us who do not have His Spirit in our heart will live forever, but not with Him. They will be cast into hell because the sin that is still in them will put them there.
We all need to be on the road that leads to Jerusalem because at the heart of that city is where our King is going to return. Our eyes should be focused on Jerusalem, and our prayers of peace should be with the Jewish people. The wars they endure are all because the devil doesn’t want Jesus to come to Jerusalem because then his reign will be over.
Are you ready for Jesus to come back? When He returns as King, the time to accept Him as our Savior will be over, so let’s keep sharing the gospel with others so they can be ready, as well.
The greatest event this world will ever see is when the clouds open up and Jesus descends with His angels. It will be horrific for the sinners because their judgment will come, but for us who know Jesus, it will be the realization of what we live for. Jesus our King, our Messiah will have returned as He promised, and He will reign forever!
- For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.—1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
