There is only a fine line between Christians and the world at times when it comes to attitudes. Sometimes Christians feel that their relationship with God gives the privilege to criticize other Christians. But the fact is that none of us have that right. We are all on the same level until we get to Heaven. So if we are going to judge and condemn our brothers and sisters, who gets to throw the first stone?

We read in Romans 3:23 that we are ALL sinners saved by grace. Not some of us, not most of us—but all of us. We were all born into this world through the lineage of Adam and Eve, and therefore, we all bare the same judgment for sin that they do.

And we read in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 the list of sins that will keep us out of Heaven; sins like adultery, lying, stealing, and killing. Most of us wouldn’t blatantly commit them, but many of us are guilty of them. Jesus said in Matthew 5:28 that if you look at a woman with lust, you have committed adultery in your heart. That’s a sin. And what about those of us who make private phone calls or spend time chatting socially at work? Is that not stealing? And lying? And what about not defending the unborn babies who are being aborted, shrugging it off as if it’s not our concern because we wouldn’t do it. Isn’t that condoning murder?

God tells us in Mark 12:20 that we are to love Him with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. He also tells us that the love of money is the root of all evil. And how many of us strive to gain material possessions more than we strive to feed the hungry and the poor, or to give money to Christian ministries that work in the front lines trying to get people saved? Or ministries that give all they have to help others in disaster?. Is that not putting our own desires above God, making our money our god instead of giving it to the true God? When we do these things for others, we do them unto Him. (Matthew 25:40)

We were all sinners before we met Jesus, and because we still live in a sinful and corrupt world, we still sin—maybe not willingly, but we still do things that we shouldn’t do, or we still don’t do things that we should do. We still need to God’s forgiveness every day.

Therefore, we need to be saved from our sins, and Jesus tells us in John 3:3 that we must be born again. We read in John 3:16 that Jesus died on the cross to provide that salvation, and that if we believe in Him, then we are saved. And what are we saved from? The Judgment Seat of Christ where anyone who hasn’t received salvation, anyone who still has sin in them will be judged and sentenced to hell because of those sins.

It doesn’t matter how deep we were into sin before we were saved, we were still sinners. And many of us have come a long way as we study the Bible and seek God’s face. Many of us become more like Christ every day, and that is normal when we seek the Lord and follow Him. But none of us were “perfect” the day we were saved. We were forgiven. We received a new Spirit within us because we came out of the world to serve God. And when we look back, we can see how God has blessed us and taught us, and how much He lives in us.

And we must never forget where we came from. We must never forget that we were once sinners on our way to hell. We must always remain humble and grateful before God. And when we grasp what Jesus went through to save us, we realize that our only attitude should be humility and thankfulness.

We need to look at our brethren and know that they are on the road to Heaven. Maybe they aren’t traveling as fast as we did. Maybe they are being distracted more than we were. Maybe their load is heavier than ours was. It doesn’t really matter what the issues are, as long as we remain humble before God and loving towards each other.

So when we see others who we think are really bad Christians, let’s not throw stones at them. Let’s throw love at them and help them to be the Christians they were called to be.
