Yes, God Hates Some Things!

god-hatesThe impression of God in this new age is that His only character is love. He loves everyone, accepts everything and has made a home in Heaven for all of us. We’re led to believe that if we are a real Christian then we, too, will love everyone and accept everyone as equally loved by God; after all, God is our Heavenly Father and we are all His creation. We’re told that the real “god” doesn’t’ hate—only loves, and that He doesn’t judge—only accepts. But this is a misunderstanding that will lead many down the path of destruction! God loves us, but there are things that He hates.

We need to realize that God has not, can not and will not ever change! He is the same yesterday, today and forever and nothing that our humanistic minds can think up will ever change who God is.

  • Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.—Hebrews 13:8

And yes, God does love us. He loves each and every person He ever made. And we know this because He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross and take away our sins. When we repent of our sins, accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, turn from the world and follow Him, then we are born again. We are filled with God’s Spirit and we will see and experience God’s love beyond our wildest imagination!

  • That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.—John 3:15-16

However, there is a balance and as much as God is known for His love for us, there are also things that God hates about us. And Sin would be #1 on His list. The whole reason He came to earth and died for us was to take upon Himself all of our sins. Why? Because sin separated us from Him and God wants us to be with Him. And this separation from God is why He hates sin!

Sin is the foundation of every wrong thing in this world, from every evil act to every sickness that kills His children. Sin destroys and ruins lives, but God wants us to be free and live in peace.

God hates sin and we see seven specific sins that He hates in Proverbs 6:16-19.

Sin stains the heart and keeps the truth about God from us. Salvation is a gift that we must receive—it’s not something to be assumed. We need to repent and accept the salvation of Christ to have our sins removed so that we can be made whole and filled with His Spirit. Without God’s Spirit in us, we still belong to the world and we have no hope of blessings here on earth or of a home in Heaven when we leave.

God hates sin! And those who won’t turn away from sin to accept His salvation will die with sin in them and will be judged and sentenced by God’s Law because of that sin. This is why we need the sin removed from us, so that we can’t be judged by the law. And when people choose to live in sin rather than in righteousness, they have to accept the outcome of their judgment, and that is death—eternal separation from God.

  • For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.—Romans 6:23

Apostle Paul tells us clearly what things are sin to God, and those who do these things will not receive God’s Spirit—they won’t have His righteousness in them and they are not Christians. We are only Christians because we have been forgiven for our sins and because we follow Christ and have His Spirit in us. And God’s Spirit in us will convict us of any sin that remains in our life and we’ll have to get rid of. So when people say that God accepts everyone just as they are and that they don’t have to change a thing, then they are being deceived and will never receive the Kingdom of God, which is God’s Spirit, in them. God has made it clear and it’s our responsibility to make the change—God does not change.

  • Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.—1 Corinthians 6:9-10 NKJV

I will be.pngGod hates sin because it separates us from Him. Just as any faithful and loving earthly father would fight anything that comes against his children, so has God fought (and won) for us! And just as our earthly father hates those things that hurt his children, so God hates the sin that hurts His children. And just as our earthly father has no limits to his love, so does God have endless love for us. And just as an earthly father would put out a rebellious child who will not love and obey him, so does God put out those who don’t love Him enough to obey His laws.

Through the cross God has given every single person ever born the opportunity to be cleansed of all sin. The choice is ours! If we love God and His Spirit is in us, then we’ll love the things He loves and hate the things He hates because we will be like Him.

  • Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: He preserveth the souls of his saints; He delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.—Psalm 97:10
